WHY REMOTE GAIT ANALYSIS?

Addressing Critical Healthcare Challenges in Sri Lanka

At Kandy General Hospital, a typical 2-month rehabilitation program often extends to nearly 8 months due to resource limitations and overwhelming patient numbers. This challenge is prevalent throughout Sri Lanka's healthcare system, creating significant delays in patient recovery and overburdening medical facilities.

RehabGait's remote analysis technology directly addresses these challenges by:

Reducing Treatment Time

Cutting rehabilitation periods from 8 months to the intended 2 months through continuous remote monitoring

Easing Hospital Burden

Decreasing the need for frequent in-person visits, allowing medical staff to serve more patients effectively

Natural Gait Assessment

Patients often alter their walking patterns when directly observed by clinicians, leading to inaccurate assessments. Remote monitoring captures authentic movement patterns

Eliminating Geographic Barriers

Providing quality rehabilitation services to patients in remote areas who struggle to access specialized care

Our Impact

By implementing RehabGait in Sri Lankan hospitals, we could potentially reduce the national rehabilitation backlog by up to 75%, allowing thousands more patients to receive timely care and return to their daily lives faster.

ABOUT THE GAIT CYCLE

gait-cycle-image

The gait cycle refers to the sequence of motions that occur during one complete stride when walking. It begins when one foot contacts the ground and ends when the same foot makes contact again. The cycle is divided into two main phases: the stance phase, where the foot remains on the ground for support, and the swing phase, where the foot moves forward to take the next step. Understanding the gait cycle is crucial for analyzing walking patterns, identifying abnormalities, and developing rehabilitation or diagnostic tools in clinical settings.
