The use of techniques learned during the foundation course in analyzing the written discourse.  Special attention is paid to a message coded in the written discourse useful linguistic structures in the discourse. eg. verb form, cohesive devices, the  content, how the content is structured to   maintain coherence, working out summary where applicable.

Communication through listening

The use of techniques learnt during the foundation course in analyzing the spoken discourse. Special attention is paid to a message coded in the spoken discourse, vocabulary, useful linguistic structures in the discourse.
eg. verb form, cohesive devices, the content is structured to maintain coherence, taking a note of important information while listening, working  out summary using the note taken.          
Enable students to listen to live/recorded lectures, take down note and  organize the structure of same

Relevance and adequacy of content, structuring of content, presentation. Writing of reports and proposals and articles.
