[10-Oct-2011] Inter-University Enterprise Mobility Software Development Competition 2011 organized by Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) and Motorola Solutions, was won by a team of 4 students ( P.M.U.C.B. Senanayake, E.A.P.S. Rahal, R.B.M.R. Rajapaksha and H.H.T.S. Herath ) from our department. The winning project was titled Greenhouse and Agricultural Management System.
[27-Apr-2011] A team of students from the department has won the Sri Lankan finals of the Microsoft Imagine Cup Software Design Competition, 2011. Now they will move to the world final to be held in New York, in July this year. The team members, all from E/07 batch, are Lahiru Senadheera, Madushanka Upendra, Lakshitha Herath and Dinushan Madhushanka.
[18-Dec-2010] One of the four technical papers presented from our department at the Fifth International Conference on Information and Automation for Sustainability (ICIAfS2010) won the best student paper award for the ICT & Social Transformation Track. This paper, titled Converting Printed Sinhala Documents to Formatted Editable Text, was co-authored by Shahina Ajward, Nalani Jayasundara, Sarasi Madushika and Roshan Ragel.
[15-Nov-2010] The outcome of four student research projects conducted at the department are accepted for publication at the 5th IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation for Sustainability (ICIAfS'10) to be held in Colombo in December 2010.

[19-Aug-2010] Students Symposium 2010, an annual event organized by the Computer Engineering department, will be held at the faculty of Engineering on the 30th of August 2010.
[27-Nov-2009] Two new courses (CO503: Advanced Embedded Systems and CO551: Theory of Computation) added to the Techinical Electives.
[16-Sep-2009] The department has undergone IESL accreditation on Sep-17th and 18th. The IRQUE accreditation conducted in February 2009 endorse the department program as good.
[12-Sep-2009] The department has organized project demonstrations, lab displays and sessions with industry personnel (including company presentations and open forums) during the industrial day event (EFI'09) organized by the faculty on Sep-11th and 12th.
[23-Feb-2009] - The graduates of E/02 Computer Batch donated equipments worth of Rs. 300k to the department. A formal 'handing over' ceremony was held during the ACES get-together dinner.
[21-Feb-2009] - The student body of the department, ACES, organized its annual get-together today. The event started with a six-a-side cricket match in the day and followed by a dinner.
[12-Feb-2009] - The department has undergone a quality assurance review. A team from the QAA Council of UGC (an IRQUE project) visited our department between 10-Feb to 12-Feb.
[10-Feb-2009] - IFS Research Lab at the department was opened today. In the first phase of this project, three undergraduate projects are jointly supervised by IFS and the department.
[13 Jan-2009] - There was a project presentation by IFS R&D Ltd. targeting CE projects (CO401): venue: CE Seminar room.
[07 to 11 Jan-2009] - ESCAL group conduct a "Embedded Systems" workshop for E/05 ,E/06 students.
[08 Jan-2009] - Dr. R. G Ragel, a Lecturer from our department, conducted a full day a tutorial titled "Security and Dependability of Embedded Systems: A Computer Architect's Perspective" at the VLSI Design conference 2009, New Delhi, India,

[31 Oct to 02 Nov - 2008] - Two Final Year Undergraduates research projects on "Enhanced real-time Ray-tracing on the GPU" and "Determining Capital Market Efficiency in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) using Technical Analysis and the Artificial Neural Networks" were on show at the INFOTEL exhibition.
[19 to 20- Sept - 2008] - We participated in the Industrial Day events (EFI'08) in a full swing. The exhibits of the department included posters such as the course outlines, course projects and individual projects performed by students. It was a great opportunity for the students to interact with outsiders, in particular with the industry.

[08-July-2008] - Our students U. Bulumulla, R. Navarathna and G. Munasinghe have won the gold medal for the best project in Student Forum in Engineering at the 2nd International Symposium held at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. The title of the project is "Determining Capital Market Efficiency in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) using Technical Analysis and the Artificial Neural Networks" and it was supervised by Mr. Lahiru Ariyananda .

[18-Mar-2008] There was a workshop on "Effective CV Writing", which aimed to guide E/04 studnets for their upcoming Industrial Training assignment. It was conducted by Mr. Lahiru Ariyananda , a Lecturer from our Department.

[28-Jan-2008] There was a seminar on "Electronic Products Design", conducted by the Symbol Technologies Lanka Ltd @ the department seminar room. The event was organized by ESCAL .
[03-Jan-2008] The Final Results of E/02/A, the recently passed out batch were released. Our Department has 7 First class honours, 17 Second class honours (Upper Division) and 17 Second class honours (Lower Division).
