Keshara Weerasinghe, a third-year undergraduate from the Department of Computer Engineering University of Peradeniya has designed and implemented a Face Shield to ensure the safety of the medical professionals who have committed their lives for the benefit of the patients.
The leap day of the year 2020, was an extra special day for several coding enthusiasts from all across the country, as they were supposed to gather at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya for the largest onsite coding competition of the country, ACES Coders Version 8.0.
A couple of internally developed web based tools are now available for the department staff and students.
The team Data Crunchers, a group of students from the Department of Computer Engineering was able to emerge as the 2nd runners up at Data Storm v1.0
Theekshana's work has also been recently published in MDPI sensors journal ( Impact Factor 3.031 ).

The final round was held under two categories namely retail and insurance in which the undergraduates of the Department of Computer Engineering were able to grab the top places from both categories.
The final round, which lasted for 12 hours of extreme coding came to end with University of Peradeniya undergraduates marking their spot at the top of the leading board.
Team Eye Coders, a group of second-year students from the Department of Computer Engineering has emerged second runners up at the IESL Techno Hackathon-Xtreme which was held on the 12th of October at the BMICH premises.
